Tamarind natural products including, leaves, fruits and seeds have been extensively used in traditional Indian and African medicine. The plant is a natural source of protein, valuable amino acids, polysaccharides, volatile oil, cardenolides, and lipids. Tamarindus indica, a useful medicinal plant was subjected to phytochemical investigation. Two triterpenes [lupanone and lupeol] have been isolated from the leaves of this plant.
